Basic AUDITION F.A.Q.
WHERE DO I GO?
We hold our auditions at West Side Baptist Church (304 S Seneca Street in Historic Delano, enter through the southeast door off of Seneca).
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
Please bring a list of all schedule conflicts, a resume (if you have one), and a 16-32 bar musical selection. An accompanist will be provided. Please also bring comfortable clothes and shoes you can perform a dance audition in.
HOW DO AUDITIONS WORK?
After you sign in, you will be asked to fill out a form that includes basic information about the cast member, conflicts and experience level details. Each cast member will receive a number and will wait until his or her number is called for vocals or until his or her group is called to move to dance auditions. The dance audition can range from a light movement call to a more intense dance call. We require everyone to attend this no matter what your ability level. We are just looking to see what you can do.
Vocal Audition. For vocal auditions, we ask that you bring a prepared song that shows your vocal range and is in a similar style as the show. Plan on singing 16-32 measures. You need to bring a copy of music for the pianist to play. No acapella singing. If you are having trouble finding a song that matches the style of the musical you are auditioning for, any song from a musical that shows your vocal range will do.
ARE THERE CALLBACKS?
Callbacks may or may not be necessary depending on the volume of auditions. MTYP staff will communicate with you about when callbacks will be and who is called back.
WHEN IS THE CAST LIST POSTED?
Typically the cast list will be posted within a few days of auditions and will be sent out via email and posted on our website.
DOES THE SHOW COST?
Yes, there is a $175 enrollment fee upon casting.
