We hold our auditions in Century II in our rehearsal studio. You will enter through the Stage Door entrance in the glass breezeway on the south side of Century II (by the Jester statue).
Please bring a list of all schedule conflicts, a resume (if you have one), and a 16-32 bar musical selection. An accompanist will be provided. Please also bring comfortable clothes and shoes you can perform a dance audition in.
After you sign in, you will be asked to fill out a form that includes basic information about the cast member, conflicts and experience level details. Each cast member will receive a number and will wait until his or her number is called for vocals or until his or her group is called to move to dance auditions. The dance audition can range from a light movement call to a more intense dance call. We require everyone to attend this no matter what your ability level. We are just looking to see what you can do.
Vocal Audition. For vocal auditions we ask that you bring a prepared song that shows your vocal range and is in a similar style as the show. Plan on singing 16-32 measures. You need to bring a copy of music for the pianist to play. No accapella singing. If you are having trouble finding a song that matches the style of the musical you are auditioning for, any song from a musical that shows your vocal range will do.
Callbacks may or may no be necessary depending on the volume of auditions. MTYP staff will communicate with you about when callbacks will be and who is called back.
Typically the cast list will be posted within a few days of auditions and will be sent out via email and posted on our website.
Yes, there is a $175 enrollment fee upon casting.
